The Taiwan International Fisheries & Seafood Show (TIFSS) 2016 took place from November 9 to 11 at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The event, themed "green fishery and sustainable resource", advocated that entrepreneurs should run businesses with a viewpoint as managers of fishery resources and promote friendly fishing methods as well as sustainable aquaculture.
This year the organizer set up the Marine Biotechnology Area for the first time. Exhibiting countries at the international area included Japan, renowned for its high-tech cultivation techniques and sea ranching, Korea, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Moreover, for the first time seven countries located in the South Pacific Ocean region participated in the form of a joint pavilion. In addition, to assist local grouper cultivators with expanding their international market, the organizer invited five major buyers from Brazil, South Africa, Vietnam, and Singapore to visit the show and purchase frozen grouper cuts. Among them, Ayamo SA Ltda from Brazil was very satisfied with the good quality of Taiwan’s grouper cultivation.
