The Interbike International Bicycle Exposition is North America’s largest bicycle industry show, with industry members gathering annually to celebrate their shared love of cycling, attend education sessions, and conduct the business of cycling. Since 1981, thousands of manufacturers, suppliers,
retailers, buyers, media members and industry influencers have come together to make Interbike one of the globe’s most important cycling trade shows. This year, the event was held from September 21st to 23rd, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The exhibition showcased over 1,400 brands and attracted over 26,000 visitors from over 60 countries.

In total, forty-three cycle companies from Taiwan took part in the event, with the Taiwan Bicycle Exporters’ Association leading the delegation. This year’s exhibitors from Taiwan prove the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of Taiwan’s cycling industry, and are good indicators that Taiwan’s move towards dominance for higher-end products in the global market remains secure.

Mr. Jaime Ming-Shy Chen, Deputy Director General of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles visited the Taiwan Bicycle Pavilion and the Taipei Cycle D&I Awards Pavilion to encourage all exhibitors to explore more export opportunities to the US market. Deputy Director Chen made these remarks at Interbike’s “Taiwan New Product Launch Press Conference” at the invitation of
the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) on September 20th. In his welcome speech, Deputy Director Chen mentioned that Taiwan’s bike industry has formed well-developed industry clusters that are very convenient for foreign buyers to do business. He also added that the United States is Taiwan’s largest export destination for Taiwanese bikes.

In addition, the Taipei Cycle D&I Awards Pavilion showcased high-quality and award-winning
bicycles from the Taipei International Cycle Show. Hundreds of visitors came to the pavilion to see Taiwan’s most innovative and advanced bicycle and bicycle-related products.
