Operation of the “Facile Trade Net, FTNet” Formally Inaugurated
As a part of carrying out the “Trade Facilitation Plan,” the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), Ministry of Economic Affairs finished setting up the “Facile Trade Net, FTNet ”, which went on-line and began providing services on March 14, 2005. Businesses can use the “FTNet” which are developed and operated by the two customs brokers, Trade-van Information Services Co. and Universal EC Inc., to apply electronically for import / export permits, certificates of origin, documents required for inspection, and quarantine-related documents from BOFT, Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI), Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine (BAPHIQ), and other relevant agencies. This project to put more operations on line has sped up customs clearance operations and represents a big advance toward realizing the goal of “paperless trade.”
