The Chairman stated that the Rules of Procedure for meetings of the Committee on Market Access provided that the Committee elect a Chairperson at the end of the first meeting of the new year. The Chairman of the Council for Trade in Goods had completed consultations on a slate of names for appointment as chairpersons of standing bodies in accordance with the established guidelines for appointment for officers. On the basis of the understanding reached, he proposed that the Committee elect Ms. Jo Lomas (United Kingdom) as Chairperson of the Committee on Market Access by acclamation.
