2019 Japan Mega Event Business Program – The Taiwan Sports and Creative Gifts Trade Mission is organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). The main purpose of the event is to secure business opportunities for Taiwanese companies in the sport and gift industry.

According to an estimate by Mizuho Bank of Japan, the scale of 2020 Olympics-related marketing is over 250 billion USD. Opportunities related to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics are attracting businesses from all over the world. To assist Taiwanese enterprises in joining the supply chain, the president of TAITRA, Mr. Huang, visited the Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in July 2018. Following his visit, the Japan Mega Event Business Program began.

The initial event of this program, the Taiwan Sports and Creative Gifts Business Day, took place April 17, 2019 in Taiwan. A total of 16 buyers from Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka joined the business matchmaking event in Taipei across 158 sessions with 119 Taiwanese suppliers. After the domestic event, TAITRA organized a delegation of 11 Taiwanese companies including representatives from the sport and gift industry. The first business event will be held on May 21 in Osaka at the Hotel Nikko Osaka, and the second event is on May 23 at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo.

The main products focus on two industries. One is the sport industry, such as fitness equipment, tchoukball, yoga products, sportwear products, medals for various sports, and functionality mats. Another is the creative giftware industry, such as VR souvenirs, picnic mats, promotion bags, keychains and eco-friendly erasers, which are related to human needs and are equal to international orders.
TAITRA’s branch offices in Osaka and Tokyo have invited more than 150 Japanese buyers to attend the event. With support from the Government of Taiwan, we hope that we can assist in connecting Taiwanese manufacturers with Japanese enterprises and join the supply chain through this trade mission.
