New Delhi, May 18, 2018: The second edition of Taiwan Expo 2019 concluded successfully today in New Delhi. Launched on May 16 at Pragati Maidan, the Expo was attended by the who’s who of the Indian and Taiwanese business world. Attendees included His Excellency, Ambassador Mr. Tien Chung-Kwang, Representative, Taipei Economic & Cultural Centre, Mr. James C.F. Huang, Chairman of Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), Mr. William Liu, Deputy Director-General of the Bureau of Foreign Trade, (MOEA) Taiwan, Mr. Praveen Bonigala, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Mr. Manish Singhal, Deputy Secretary General, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Mr. Deepak KumarExecutive Director, India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO), among others.

Taiwan Expo 2019 gathered various suppliers and buyers who showed a keen interest in Taiwanese products. More than 20,000 visitors attended the three-day event.

Mr. James C.F. Huang, Chairman of TAITRA said, “The second edition of Taiwan Expo 2019 was tremendously received, strengthening our decision to share bilateral trade between the two countries. India and its people have been extremely hospitable to the Taiwanese people and our culture. We have lots of similarities and through the Taiwan Expo, we look forward to mutually-beneficial business relations.”

There were cultural performances throughout the expo including a traditional cultural performance by a Taiwanese dance troupe. The dance troupe also invited the audience to join them on stage and make an impromptu performance.
 
This year, Taiwan Expo focused on- Smart Cities, HealthCare, Taiwanese Lifestyle, Agriculture, Green Tech and Education, Culture, and Tourism. In addition to the Expo, Taiwan Expo 2019 saw the Taiwan-India Medical Cooperation Forum provide Indian companies with an opportunity to learn about Taiwan’s current healthcare development, its diverse strength in the fields of medical equipment, economy, trade, etc., and areas in which the two countries can cooperate in the future. The forums offer the audience an opportunity to learn about Taiwan’s current industrial development, and the areas in which the two countries can cooperate in the future. The Expo enabled one exhibitor ‘National Cheng Kung University Hospital’ to meet several India hospitals including the leading specialty hospital Apollo Hospital, Accord SDH Hospital in Pune City, and AIIMS Hospital. Consultations were held on future cooperation in exchange visits, medical training and publications in academic journals.
 
Taiwan Expo 2019’s rich exhibition content and professional seminars offered Indian visitors the opportunity to learn about Taiwan in a comprehensive and in-depth manner.
