Dec.5, 2019 | Jakarta, Indonesia –The ‘Taiwan: Smart Manufacturing for a Better Indonesian Manufacturing Future’ Student Workshop at Manufacturing Indonesia 2019 invited PT Gisma Cipta Sukses and Strada Vocational School to come and join this special event.

The purpose of the event is to introduce the technological strengths of Taiwan’s smart manufacturing products and solutions to the next generation of the students that were expected to be next professional and technology expert in all manufacturing fields and take a part the Indonesian manufacturng future. The workshop, which will take part in conjunction with the Taiwan Smart Manufacturing Pavilion during the Manufacturing Indonesia 2019 at the Jakarta International Expo Center are organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and Coperate Synergy Development Center (CSD).

Krist Yen, the deputy director of Industry Marketing Department of TAITRA mentioned that In 2018, the Taiwan machinery industry saw its annual production rate rise to a record-setting high of roughly $39.2 billion USD. Taiwan has remained one of the major suppliers of machine tools to the Indonesia market and will continue serving as the best partner for Indonesia. Imports of Taiwan-made machine tools and accessories in 2018, for instance, reached 85 million US dollars, which increased 23.56% compared with the same period last year and made the nation Indonesia’s third biggest supplier of machine tools, accounting for 11.79% of its total annual imports, which value 724 million US dollars.

Since 2018, the Centre for Industrial Education and Training, Ministry of Industry, Indonesia and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council has signed a Technical Arrangement on the Education and Training Program for CNC Machine Tools to enhance the capacity of Indonesian industrial human resources through technical training and educational development for industries with the objective to provide skilled workers required by industries.

In 2018 and 2019, the Ministry of Industry and TAITRA entrust Formosa LPK Engineering to implement four training courses each year. Each course includes teaching and learning activities in class and training in the workshop 8 hours per day for 26 working days (total 208 hours) for 25 teachers who participated. So far, 8 training courses have been completed and 200 training participants have completed the training program in these 2 years.

"So far, there are still many human resources in Indonesia that have not been able to operate CNC machines. Because of that, Formosa LPK Engineering provides specialized CNC machine training for vocational teachers in Indonesia, so the teachers can reduce the knowledge they received to their students, "said Yakobus as Principal of the Principal Formosa LPK Engineering.

Targeting at automotive and motorcycle smart manufacturing solutions, the smart manufacturing pavilion displays that Taiwan machine tools builders pair up with Single-Machine Automation Peripherals and Smart Set-Top Box to bring the concept of "Production Visualization “to Indonesian manufacturing partners.

Such measures aim to raise awareness among local Indonesian manufacturers and visitors regarding how to apply single-machine intelligence to improve manufacturing quality and processing efficiency, automate peripherals, reduce human resources, and improve stability, implement service energy monitoring throughout the factory through production information streaming, and ultimately improve manufacturing intelligence for the local metal processing manufacturing industry.

Thus, this year over 86 Taiwanese companies are participating at Manufacturing Indonesia, which makes Taiwan the top 1 exhibitor country at Manufacturing Indonesia 2019. Five associations organized Taiwan Pavilions at the show, including Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), Taiwan Machine Tools Builders Association (TMBA), Taiwan Fluid Power Association(TFPA), Taichung World Trade Center(TWTC)& Taiwan Hand Tool Manufacturers' Association(THTMA).
