Bilateral trade reached USD7.05 billion in 2018, with double-digit growth. Moreover, the agreements on bilateral investment and mutual recognition of authorized economic operators (AEO) concluded last December in Taipei will provide greater protections and facilitation for businesses from both sides. Consequently, these will be important in creating new dynamics for the development of bilateral relations.
Mr. Sanjay Chadha, the Indian Commerce Additional Secretary, and Mr. Shailendra Singh, the Industry one, talked about how to attain trade and investment opportunities in India, while China Steel Corporation (CSC) India Chairman of Board, Mr. Wen-Yen Fu shared his ideas on investment and prospects in the Indian market. In addition, the Economic Secretary of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, Mr. Yii-Feng Chang gave a briefing on the Taiwan Plus office.
Mr. Chang explained that the Taiwan Plus office was newly established last November in New Delhi and provides a single window service to Taiwanese firms, including pre-investment evaluation, investment execution, and follow-up facilitation. The companies that are interested in doing business in India are encouraged to contact the Taiwan Plus office.
The other four panelists from Taiwanese enterprises were Mr. Eric Lu, vice president of CTBC Bank; Mr. Lung-Pin Tsai, chief financial officer of the SENTEC Group; Mr. Hank Hsu, chief operations officer of Wistron Corporation; and Mr. Jeff Lee, sales director of Apacer Technology.
