The MOEA worked with the American Institute of Taiwan (AIT) and Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA) to host the said business forum, which helped companies avail the business opportunities of the Biden Administration's Build Back Better Plan.
As part of the 2021 U.S. Business Day event, which was launched On October 6th, the Taiwan-U.S. 5G Trade and Investment Business Forum had some U.S. federal government officials giving speeches, and Taiwanese and U.S. entrepreneurs having discussions on how to jointly maximize the opportunities in the 5G industry.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) introduced recent trends in 5G technology and in the testing and verification of telecommunications equipment, while the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) shared Taiwan's 5G AIoT and O-RAN innovation.
Taiwanese and the U.S. entrepreneurs had a panel discussion, with the U.S. side represented by industry vendors from the telecommunications, equipment and software sectors, while the Taiwanese side was represented by Mr. Jerry Hsu, Chairman of the 5G Industry Innovation and Development Alliance (5G IDA), Alpha Networks, Askey, Compal Electronics, Pegatron, SERCOMM, and WNC.
Mr. Hsu, chairman of 5G IDA said that with the assistance of the MOEA, Taiwanese and the U.S. heavyweights could jointly explore business opportunities. The future of the 5G supply chain cooperation is promising and spans cloud services, core network software, and private network systems integration, he said.
AIT Commercial Section Chief Brent Omdahl expressed his hopes for a deeper bilateral cooperation in the global supply chain and 5G industries, and welcomed Taiwanese companies to enter the U.S. market.
The Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) Deputy Director General Chih-hung LIU said that economic activities rely more on digital technology than ever, therefore it is the best moment to deepen the Taiwan-U.S. 5G supply chain cooperation, and that the MOEA will continue to strengthen the bilateral industrial cooperation through various channels.
