The 7th Taiwan-Finland trade talk deepen bilateral economic partnership

The 7th Taiwan-Finland Trade Talk was held on 13 December 2022 in Taipei. Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Chern-Chyi "C.C." Chen and Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment Petri Peltonen co-chaired this meeting. A variety of topics were discussed such as green transition, digital health and digitalization, energy, and cybersecurity.

Green transition and decarbonization were the focus of the meeting, as both sides shared their respective policy strategies with the expectation of strengthening industrial cooperation on green transition. In the energy sector, Taiwan proposed that both sides exchange information on policies and technological progress on the development of energy storage and hydrogen energy.

As for digital health, Taiwan and Finland are committed to developing technological solutions and improving the efficiency of their healthcare systems. 

In addition, Taiwan shared cybersecurity measures adopted by the government and exchanged views with Finland. 

Deputy Minister Chen praised Finland's strong commitment to the sustainable development of the environment, and pointed out that net-zero carbon emissions is an area with great potential for cooperation between Taiwan and Finland. 

Besides the Trade Talk, the 9th Taiwan-Finland Business Forum was hosted by the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) and Business Finland on 14 December 2022 in Taipei, with the aim of facilitating the connection of Taiwanese and Finnish enterprises on industrial cooperation. Under-Secretary Peltonen also attended the forum.
