 The 3rd Administrative Commission Meeting on FTA between Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Republic of Honduras strengthens bilateral trade relations

 

The 3rd Administrative Commission Meeting of the Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Honduras and the Republic of China (Taiwan) was held on 26 March 2019 in Taipei. The Meeting co-hosted by Taiwan’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Mr. Jong-Chin Shen and Honduras’ Minister for Economic Development, Mr. Arnaldo Castillo Figueroa focused on cooperation in investment, trade and capacity building.

 

On market access, both sides provided tariff reductions to product imports from the other country. Taiwan eliminated tariffs on 25 Honduran items including cane sugar, agricultural products, and dairy products, etc., while Honduras agreed to provide tariff reductions on 8 Taiwanese items, including zero tariffs for motor vehicle parts and adhesives, etc. to strengthen trade. In addition, to assist Honduras expand its trade, Taiwan will continue to organize delegations to procure and carry out business evaluations in Honduras, as well as assist Honduran SMEs in food processing and packaging development.

 

Furthermore, the Bureau of Foreign Trade assisted in organizing two business meetings for Minister Figueroa’s business delegation, and invited Taiwanese businesses in the textiles, food processing, packaging and coffee industries to attend a Honduras investment seminar. These activities designed to help Taiwanese companies business-match with Honduran companies take advantage of the Taiwan-Honduras FTA to help both sides explore more opportunities for industrial and trade cooperation.
