Minister for Economic Affairs Mrs. Mei-Hua Wang of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Honorable Minister of State Mrs. Tracy Taegar Panton of Belize signed the Agreement on Economic Cooperation on 30 September 2020. In the future, both sides will continue to review relevant domestic legislation to facilitate the prompt implementation of this agreement.
Last year marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Belize. In order to continue deepening bilateral relations, both sides began consultations and successfully completed the signing through the efforts of our two governments. This agreement will strengthen bilateral economic and trade relations by reducing tariffs, facilitating trade, promoting investment, and advancing technical cooperation, thereby consolidating our friendship.
Since the industries of both sides are highly complementary, this agreement can foster mutual benefits and win-win cooperation. It will also help strengthen the friendship between our two countries and deepen economic exchanges between Taiwan and the Caribbean region.
