The 2020 Sweden-Taiwan Trade Talks was held on November 4 by videoconference. The meeting co-chaired by Mr. Chern-Chyi, Chen, Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs and Mr. Krister Nilsson, State Secretary to the Minister for Foreign Trade of Sweden enabled many exchanges on economic and trade issues of mutual interest.
The meeting covered several topics on cooperation, which discussed the challenges and opportunities in smart transportation and digital healthcare, as well as smart cities and financial technology. In addition, the two sides emphasized their commitment to jointly build a more business-friendly environment, such as through transparent tax information, the recognition of Good Laboratory Operation data, and building general aviation relations.
State Secretary Nilsson introduced the developments of the battery industry and advanced ICT solutions industry in Sweden and welcomed Taiwanese investments in those areas. Deputy Minister Chen explained that our government encourages Taiwanese companies to invest in the EU and the US in response to current international circumstances and stated Taiwan's intention to continue cooperation with Sweden on investment promotion.
