On March 17, Director General Cynthia Kiang of the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) was invited to attend the 2nd joint meeting of the 6th Board of Directors and Supervisors of the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA).
Ms. Kiang said that in response to the impact of the pandemic, the BOFT is actively assisting Taiwanese firms in creating online business opportunities, while continuing to promote digital transformation.
The BOFT has commissioned the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to develop a public version of digital exhibitions, which will be provided to associations that apply with the BOFT for use.
The BOFT also plans to develop exhibition technology over the next four years, such as the use of digital receptionists for registration procedures or holographic projections for participation in conferences. This will enable Taiwan's exhibition technology acquire a leading position among neighboring countries.
Looking to 2021, the BOFT will continue to work with the CIECA to actively assist the industries in creating more substantial economic and trade cooperation, expanding economic and trade links with other countries on the basis of existing bilateral NGO exchanges, and leading industries to open up larger overseas markets.
