The Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) and the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) jointly held the Taiwan Biomedical Symposium on March 26. Experts and scholars from the Academia Sinica Center and Chang Gung Medical Foundation were invited to explore how opportunities in the domestic biomedical industry can be developed. Nearly 200 participants attended online and offline.
Director General Cynthia Kiang of the BOFT under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) highlighted Taiwan's strong performance in terms of pandemic prevention. DG Kiang stated that “Thanks to our excellent biotechnology and medical system, we can live and travel in Taiwan as usual. In the future, the government will continue to promote the cross-industrial integration of biotechnology with communication systems, while promoting exchanges among the biomedical industry, government and academia so as to upgrade the performance of domestic manufacturers.”
The recently hot topics in Taiwan concerning the "strategic deployment of precision medicine" and "interdisciplinary collaboration on medical technology" were discussed during the symposium. Sharing views and information enabled industries to grasp the current trends in order to promote the benefits of Taiwan's biomedical industry worldwide.
