Taiwan Shares Solutions on Smart Manufacturing with Malaysia to Build Collaboration Ties

2021-05-26

In order to facilitate collaboration on Smart Manufacturing, the Taiwan-Malaysia Collaboration Webinar on Smart Manufacturing was  held on May 18, 2021 by China Productivity Center(CPC) and Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers(FMM). This webinar aimed to showcase experiences in setting up smart factories in Taiwan where physical production processes are combined with digital technology, smart computing and big data to create improvements in supply chain management. Both sides agreed to continue facilitating more business opportunities.

The impetus for this webinar was the 1st Malaysia-Taiwan Economic Cooperation Committee Business Advisory Group (MTECC BAG) held last year by the Chinese National Federation of Industries (CNFI) and FMM. At that time, the FMM paid special attention to our smart manufacturing technology, and hoped we could share our experience to help Malaysian SMEs improve their capabilities in smart manufacturing.

According to a survey conducted by the FMM, around 30% of Malaysian enterprises said export-oriented manufacturing was seriously hindered due to the pandemic. As labor costs were still a burden, they hoped to cultivate high-tech capabilities to reach smart manufacturing. In the post-pandemic era, industries hope to improve efficiency and alleviate manpower shortage through smart manufacturing technology. The Bureau of Foreign Trade will promote cooperation between both sides on industrial technology to expand mutual business opportunities.
