Taiwan Excellence supports Taiwan’s Cycling Gala 2020 Tour de Taiwan Go On as Scheduled

    Taiwan Excellence, awards organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) that recognize quality Taiwanese products, has supported the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) Level 2.1 cycling race "Tour de Taiwan" for nine consecutive years since 2012, in promotion of the "Taiwan Excellence" brand and in enhancing the international profile of Taiwan’s bicycle industry.


    After careful evaluations of the coronavirus epidemic, the Tour de Taiwan took place between March 1 and 5 as scheduled. A total of 17 teams comprising elite athletes and almost 140 professional cyclists from over 30 countries participated in this grand event. The various stages of the race led competitors through Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Romantic Route 3 (Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, and Taichung City), Pingtung County, and Kaohsiung City, showcasing the beauty of Taiwan and the industrial capabilities of the "Taiwan Bicycle Kingdom" to the participants and spectators around the world.


    Taiwan's bicycle industry plays a key role in the global market and is widely endorsed by international cycling industry experts. Paul Abrahams, representing Elevate-Webiplex Pro Cycling Team, and Pat McQuaid, Honorary President of the UCI pointed out in an interview that Taiwan leads the world in the cycling industry and that Taiwan’s cycling industry constantly innovates and challenges itself to create new products and services, which echo the spirit of innovation as promoted by Taiwan Excellence.


    Taiwan Excellence is a long-standing supporter of the Tour de Taiwan, increasing local awareness of the awards and enhancing the international profile of Taiwan’s cycling industry in its efforts. Through various sports channels and YouTube Live streaming, promotion of Taiwan Excellence products and the cycling race coverage reach 240 million households worldwide, helping the world learn about the Taiwan Excellence brand and Taiwan’s outstanding bicycle industry. The viewing channels also allow domestic spectators to watch and cheer for the Chinese Taipei team as well as international athletes from the comfort of their own homes.
