The BOFT commissioned the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) to hold a Canada-Taiwan Business Network Luncheon on 28 July for exchanges between business and government representatives of the two countries. The event gathered together local businesses that have close commercial relationships with Canada and Canadian businesses in Taiwan. More than 50 business and government representatives attended the event. In his opening remark, Canadian Trade Office in Taipei’s Executive Director Jordan Reeves explained that this year (2020) has been dedicated the Year of Canadian-Taiwanese Innovators to promote and deepen collaboration, trade and investment between Taiwan and Canada.
The BOFT’s Director-General Mr. Chern-chyi Chen and the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei’s Executive Director Mr. Jordan Reeves both attended the event and delivered opening remarks. During the meeting, Mr. Duane Robson, Trade and Investment Director of the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei presented the plans for this Year of Canadian-Taiwanese Innovators. Mr. R.T. Tsai, Vice President of Delta Electronics and Mr. Chaney Ho, Executive Board Director of Advantech Co. shared their global deployment investment strategies as well as trade and investment experiences in Canada. Mr. Felipe Montero, Director of Northland Power, Mr. Robert Brown, Operations Manager of Magna Automotive, and Mr. Paul Chuo, Functional Head of Business Development of Stantec all presented their Taiwan investment experience and business insights.
The attendees at the luncheon came from industry areas including ICT, biotech, energy, textile, automobile and system integration. Exchanges at the event were enthusiastic and the luncheon closed on a high note.
