The Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) of the Ministry Economic Affairs joins hands with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) in holding the Taiwan Expos every year in Southeast Asia. This year’s three-day exhibition was simultaneously held at the Taipei International Convention Center and the Rosewood Hotel Bangkok where technology linked up the exhibition sites throughout 4 to 6 November. A series of industrial forums and product launches at the event introduced Taiwan’s outstanding products to locals in Thailand. Additionally, 180 Taiwanese business representatives met with 150 Thai buyers in over 400 virtual procurement meetings.
The overarching theme, “Let’s THAI Together” brought out many friendly exchanges between Taiwan and Thailand. The seven industry themes covered cutting-edge healthcare, smart ICT applications, Industry 4.0, fashion and lifestyle, Taiwanese food, tourism and financial services, and Taiwanese businesses in Thailand. Furthermore, a Taiwan Smart Healthcare Solutions webinar highlighted Taiwan’s healthcare services and products, as well as experience-shared Taiwan’s epidemic control efforts.
BOFT’s Deputy Director General, Dr. GJ Lee stated in his remarks in Taipei that COVID-19 had not only accelerated digital transformation, but also increased interactions, which is essential momentum to break through the dampened business from the pandemic. He was confident that Taiwan and Thailand would continue to find new ways to cooperate and deepen trade linkages.
At the Bangkok exhibition site, 36 consumer electronics, fitness, and anti-pandemic products as well as cultural and creative designs from Taiwan were displayed in the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion, the Taiwan E-commerce Pavilion and the Taiwan Cultural and Creative Pavilion.
Five exhibition series are scheduled this year as part of the 2020 Online Taiwan Expo. Already held were the Taiwan Expos in Vietnam and Indonesia. Soon to follow this month and next month will be the online Taiwan Expo in Malaysia and online Taiwan Expo in India. The BOFT endeavors to continue improving and innovating through various means including hybrid events like the Taiwan Expo to help businesses expand their overseas markets.
