To help Taiwanese companies adapt to the green trend worldwide and help them compete for green trade opportunities globally, the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs launched the Green Trade Promotion Project in 2011 to integrate Taiwan's green industry. Despite COVID-19 last year (2020), the project counselled 118 domestic companies to apply for international green verification, held a wind power seminar, and investigated the renewable energy policies of 42 countries including the U.S., Japan and Germany. The project also organized 8 green product launches online. Furthermore, the project introduced Taiwan’s green energy companies to local enterprises in Palau to build a solar smart lighting system. It is estimated that the project assisted a total of 273 domestic companies, with a reach of some 1,300 potential international buyers in 2020.
One of the major events driving the green movement is the Global Climate Summit, and the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) will be held this year (2021). This year, the BOFT will be launching the Green Product International Linkage Promotion Project together with TAITRA and ITRI to provide further services to companies, such as optimizing the Green Product Verification Search Platform, assisting our companies to obtain international green verification, and modeling successful experiences from green customized system integration ecosystems. The Promotion Project will also leverage a variety of marketing tools including digital technology to assist our businesses compete for global green business opportunities. Taiwan Can Help not just with medical supplies. Taiwan Can Lead in the sustainable development of green lifestyles.
