Taiwan's Wheelchair Exports Performed Well in 2021 and 2022

Taiwan's wheelchair exports amounted to US$114 million in 2021, a growth of 17.3% over 2020. In 2022, wheelchair exports rose 11.2% to US$127 million, and exports showed a double digit growth for two consecutive years. On the other hand, exports of wheelchair accessories hit a new high of US$96 million in 2022.

Taiwanese wheelchairs manufacturers pay attention to the needs of users in design, and focus on pursuing high quality and safety standards. Taiwan-made wheelchairs are popular and trusted around the world. The U.S. and Europe are main markets for Taiwan's wheelchairs.

As of November 2022, Taiwan was ranked 4th in the U.S. in terms of the total imports of wheelchairs. Taiwan also surpassed Canada to become the 2nd largest source of U.S. imports of accessories that grew by 31.1% compared to the previous year.

Taiwanese manufacturers continue to launch new models of wheelchairs. The BOFT actively assists Taiwanese firms to participate in international exhibitions to seize business opportunities and benefit more disabled people and seniors.
