Trade
Bilateral trade between Iran and Taiwan totaled US$83 million in 2023 and US$70 million in 2024. In 2024, the Taiwan-Iran bilateral trade has decreased 16% over the previous year. Taiwan's exports to Iran amounted to US$24 million, decreasing 34%, while Taiwan's imports from Iran amounted to US$14 million, decreasing 29%. The main export products were screws, bolts, nuts, reaction accelerators, parts and accessories of the motor vehicles. The major imported products were petroleum coke, natural or reproduced by synthesis, copper plates and polymers of ethylene.
From January to August 2025, bilateral trade between Iran and Taiwan totaled US$35million. Taiwan's exports to Iran amounted to US$24 million, decreasing 34%, while Taiwan's imports from Iran amounted to US$ 11 million, increasing 4%.
Investment
According to statistics from the Department of Investment Review of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, 81 Iranian direct investment (FDI) cases for a total amount of US$7.79 million were approved from January 1952 to August 2025. As for Taiwan's outward investment in Iran, only 1 case was approved from January 1952 to August 2025. This approved investment amounted to US$183 thousand.
