Trade

 

Bilateral trade between Iran and Taiwan totaled US$128 million in 2022 and US$83million in 2023. In 2023, the Taiwan-Iran bilateral trade has decreased 35% over the previous year. Taiwan's exports to Iran amounted to US$63 million, decreasing 18%, while Taiwan's imports from Iran amounted to US$20 million, decreasing 60%. The main export products were screws, bolts, nuts, reaction accelerators, parts and accessories of the motor vehicles. The major imported products were petroleum coke, natural or reproduced by synthesis, copper plates and polymers of ethylene.

From January to July 2024, bilateral trade between Iran and Taiwan totaled US$40 million.  Taiwan's exports to Iran amounted to US$31 million, decreasing 8%, while Taiwan's imports from Iran amounted to US$ 9 million, decreasing 15%.

Investment

According to statistics from the Department of Investment Review of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, 12 Iranian direct investment (FDI) cases for a total amount of US$7.78 million were approved from January 1952 to July 2024. As for Taiwan's outward investment in Iran, only 1 case was approved from January 1952 to July 2024. This approved investment amounted to US$183 thousand.
