Trade

Bilateral trade between Taiwan and the European Union reached US$ 75.27 billion in 2022, making the EU our 5th largest trading partner. In 2022, Taiwan's exports to the EU amounted to US$ 34.93 billion, representing an increase of 9.81% over the previous year and making the EU our 5th largest export market. Meanwhile, Taiwan's imports from the EU amounted to US$ 40.38 billion, increasing 9.17%, and making the EU our 5th largest source of imports.

 

Investment

As of 2022, EU enterprises had invested in a total of 4,100 cases in Taiwan, with a cumulative value of US$ 54.96 billion. Major investment industries included manufacturing of electronic components, energy, finance and insurance, wholesale and retail, machinery and equipment manufacturing, and information and communications. During the same period, Taiwanese domestic enterprises had engaged in 757 investment projects in the EU, amounting to a total of US$ 8.57 billion. Major investments were in the manufacturing of electronic components, finance and insurance, wholesale and retail industries.
