Early Victory for Taiwanese Producers of Corrosion-Resistant Steel

Three Taiwanese producers of steel successfully appealed to the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit for the calculation of dumping margins for the three companies erroneously determined as one entity in the Department of Commerce’s (DoC) 2015 anti-dumping investigation. Producers of corrosion-resistant steel (CORE) products, Yieh Phui Enterprise (燁輝), Prosperity Tieh Enterprise (裕鐵) and Synn industris (欣建) were considered together as the Prosperity-Yieh-Synn entity in dumping margin calculations in 2016 despite the former two being determined as not selling and not likely to sell their products in the US at less than fair value.

This welcome news for Taiwan’s industry is an example of the Bureau of Foreign Trade’s (BoFT) supportive efforts to Taiwanese businesses dealing with trade remedy cases. The BoFT encourages businesses to take an active role in all stages of trade remedy investigations to protect their rights in overseas markets. The assistance programs of the BoFT offer support for legal, accounting and consulting services.
