The Bureau of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Economic Affairs launched the digital marketing promotion service to stimulate exports on 16 June 2020 to help businesses leverage digital marketing tools to boost export momentum and seize business opportunities related to digital trade.

From these events, the BOFT has been able to understand the difficulties businesses have encountered to help formulate measures of immediate need, and has set up a digital trade academy to assist the industry with digital transformation.

The BOFT has also been bringing together resources from the overseas offices of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the MOEA to turn physical marketing events into virtual equivalents. Examples of such include small-scale on-the-go delegations that match industry needs (product categories, target cities or buyers) to identify buyers, creating online exhibitions and pavilions, and organizing online seminars on industry trends. These efforts at aimed at helping businesses continue expanding their markets overseas despite the restrictions to movement to contain the virus.
