Taiwan – Pennsylvania Economic & Technology Online Seminar promotes cooperation in advanced manufacturing and smart machinery

2022-04-20

On April 19, 2022, the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), and Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York (TECO New York) co-hosted the Taiwan – Pennsylvania Economic & Technology Online Seminar.

This seminar aims to celebrate the reopening of the Pennsylvania Office in Taiwan this March. Both sides shared experiences in developing advanced manufacturing and smart machinery and agreed to boost further cooperation.

Taiwan and Pennsylvania have close economic and trade relations. The annual bilateral trade in goods exceeds US$1.1 billion every year, and continues to grow even amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Both sides also cooperate in robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), self-driving cars, and Internet of Things (IoT) in recent years. With the reopening of the Pennsylvania Office in Taiwan and more engagement in the future, both sides expect to have more cooperation in smart manufacturing and in strengthening critical supply chains.
