    While the world has been experiencing severe impacts from COVID-19, Taiwan has won worldwide acclaim for its advanced measures in response to the outbreak. In order to help more countries affected by this pandemic, the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) coordinated with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) in holding the Taiwan Anti-COVID-19 Pavilion Press on 4 June 2020. Over 30 foreign and domestic media, such as the NHK and Nikkei Inc. were invited, and face masks, protective clothing, and related products from 13 Taiwanese companies were displayed. Furthermore, it was announced that more than 2,000 businesses and 20 medical institutions jointly set up the “Taiwan Anti-COVID-19 Pavilion” one-stop website, which fully integrates Taiwan's anti-COVID-19 resources and offers customized services to the world.

    The “Taiwan Anti-COVID-19 Pavilion” is a digital platform that integrates Taiwan's excellent medical resources, such as epidemic-prevention experiences and video sharing, anti-epidemic business maps, supply chain matching for anti-epidemic products, and expert experiences and knowledge, just to name a few. It links domestic industries, medical institutes, public associations and government agencies to provide healthcare and anti-epidemic information to medical personnel, buyers and people around the world. In addition, the website is connected to the “Taiwan Trade” website, which includes 2,000 Taiwan healthcare businesses and more than 10,000 products. As a result, overseas buyers can negotiate directly with our vendors and place an orders online to meet the various needs of countries regarding vaccine testing, face masks, protective outfits and individual protective products.

    The BOFT Director General Zheng-Chi CHEN stated, “The key to Taiwan's success in epidemic-prevention is due to proactive preparation by government agencies and concerted cooperation by the people.” During this period of zero-contact, the “Taiwan Anti-COVID-19 Pavilion” was set up to declare that “Taiwan is willing to help and Taiwan is helping!” During this pandemic, our local governments and businesses have shared their experiences in combating COVID-19 through our representative offices overseas, driving exports of Taiwan's anti-epidemic supply chain products, and promoting the digital transformation of trade.  In the near future, digital marketing will be launched to revitalize exports, service vendors will embark on a promotion circuit of north, central, south and east Taiwan to help Taiwanese manufacturers vie for businesses opportunities in the post-epidemic period.

    The establishment of the “Taiwan Anti-COVID-19 Pavilion” symbolized the determination of Taiwan and the world in combating COVID-19. “We are in this fight together” is our declaration in the hope of spreading our positive power to help more countries and people worldwide.
